Appel à contributions • Re-examining the Transition from the Renaissance to the Baroque / 25 septembre 2010/ Faculté de Musique / Oxford

Conférence : Appel à contributions

A Royal Musical Association Study Day in association with
the Sixteenth-/Seventeenth-Century Music Network :

Re-examining the Transition from the Renaissance to the Baroque

Deadline : 7 mai 2010

A Forum for Student-Led Research

Panel discussion chaired by Peter Holman, Reinhard
Strohm and Richard Wistreich

Faculty of Music, St Aldate’s, Oxford

Saturday 25 September 2010

This forum seeks to facilitate and promote links among scholars with research interests in the music
of the late-Renaissance and early-Baroque eras. Traditional periodizations separate scholars working
on closely-related musical topics, and hinder study of transitions from one music-historical period to
another. This forum re-examines concepts of continuity and change in late-Renaissance and early-
Baroque music.

We invite proposals for twenty-minute papers on any aspect of sixteenth- or seventeenth-century
music ; we particularly welcome proposals that re-examine the transition from the Renaissance to the
Baroque.

Abstracts of no more than 250 words should be emailed to :

gregory.camp@music.ox.ac.uk

by Friday 7 May 2010 for consideration by the programme committee.

Convenors :

Abigail Ballantyne, Katherine Butler, Gregory Camp, Patrick Gilday and Greg Skidmore
