In May 2016 will take place a new edition of the highly consolidated Congress on Dance, Research and Education that the University of Malaga has been organizing annually since 2012. Since its third edition, this scientific meeting of educators, professionals and researchers is organized around a thematic line that encourages interdisciplinary approaches and promotes a scientific exchange.
The next edition, Fifth International Congress on Dance, Research and Education, is dedicated to the subject “Dance, ideology and power”. With the usual structure from previous editions—made up by History section, Didactics section, Practical workshops and Flamenco section—, this edition is developed in synergy with a project of R+D+I funded by the Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad (Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness) within the National Programme for Foresting Excellence in Scientific and Technical Research. For this reason, the History session will be longer than usual and it will specifically address the issue presented the project “Danza durante la Guerra Civil y el franquismo (1936-1960). Políticas culturales, identidad, género y patrimonio coreográfico”, MINECO HAR2013-48658-C2-2-P (Dance during the Civil War and Francoism (1936-1960). Cultural policies, identity, gender and choreographic patrimony). Likewise, we will once again work in collaboration with the Flamencology Professorship of the University of Malaga supporting the scientific study of Flamenco.
Calendar : 19th, 20th and 21st of May 2016.
Location : Facultad de Ciencias de la Educación (Department of Educational Sciences). Assembly halls—Salón de Actos and Sala de Grados— and classrooms.
Communications may be written in English or Spanish.
Communications selected by the scientific committee of the Congress will be published in the Minutes Book for the 5th International Congress on Dance, ideology and power, published digitally with an ISBN.
Participants will be able to present communications for the present iteration of this Congress relating to the following topic : 5th International Congress on Dance, Research and Education : Dance, ideology and power. The dance may be related with one or more of these disciplines and should be assigned, according to its focus, to one of the following sessions during the Congress :
* “Danza durante la Guerra Civil y el franquismo (1936-1960)”
* History
* Didactic
* Flamenco
Submission deadline for communications : 20th March 2016.
